چکیده

Background: Acrylamide, a probable human carcinogen, can be formed in carbohydrate-rich foods cooked at high temperatures. Whether dietary acrylamide intake is associated with the risk of cancer in humans is uncertain. We aimed to assess the relation between dietary acrylamide intake and the incidence of epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods: The Swedish Mammography Cohort is a population-based prospective study of 61,057 Swedish women. Diet was assessed with a food-frequency questionnaire at baseline in 1987-1990 and again in 1997. Results: During a mean follow-up of 17.5 years, we ascertained 368 incident cases of ovarian cancer. We observed no association between acrylamide intake and the risk of ovarian cancer. Compared with the lowest quartile of acrylamide intake (mean intake, 16.9 Mg/day), the multivariable rate ratios for the highest quartile (mean intake, 32.5 Mg/day) were 0.86 (95% confidence interval, 0.63-1.16) for total ovarian cancer and 1.05 (95% confidence interval, 0.68-1.63) for serous ovarian cancer (n = 182 cases). Conclusions: The results from this prospective study provide no evidence that dietary acrylamide in amounts typically consumed by Swedish women is associated with the risk of ovarian cancer. Long-term dietary acrylamide intake and breast cancer risk in a prospective cohort of Swedish women.

The association between dietary acrylamide intake and the incidence of invasive breast cancer was examined among 61,433 Swedish women who were cancer free and completed a food frequency questionnaire in 1987-1990 and again in 1997. During a mean follow-up of 17.4 years, a total of 2,952 incident cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in the cohort. In multivariate analyses controlling for breast...

Dietary acrylamide intake and prostate cancer risk in a prospective cohort of Swedish men.

BACKGROUND Acrylamide is a probable human carcinogen that can be formed in foods prepared at high temperatures. Whereas evidence indicates that acrylamide causes cancer in laboratory animals, epidemiologic data on dietary acrylamide intake in relation to cancer risk are limited and mainly null. We examined the association between dietary acrylamide intake and risk of prostate cancer in a cohort...

I-18: Evaluating Pregnancy and Long-Term Outcomes of ART

When treating infertile couples by assisted reproductive technologies (ART), all aspects of their care in individual clinics should be evaluated frequently. Results should then be compared with other clinics offering similar treatment. Evaluation of possible adverse longterm outcomes can be achieved by pooling results from individual clinics in national, regional and international registers and...

Dietary folate intake and incidence of ovarian cancer: the Swedish Mammography Cohort.

BACKGROUND Mounting evidence suggests that a low intake of the water-soluble B vitamin folate is associated with breast and colorectal carcinogenesis, especially among alcohol drinkers. However, epidemiologic data specifically linking folate intake to ovarian cancer risk are limited. METHODS We examined the association between dietary folate intake (i.e., folate from food sources) and the inc...
